AN20TH-018 FIFTH + ANACHRONORM Ripped Double Knee Pants

For this collaboration, ANACHRONORM applied distressing and remodeling to FIFTH's original painter pants.

Based on a symbolic American workwear brand, the material and details were largely unchanged, but the waist and hip area were adjusted to create a wide-leg fit not found in the original.

Additionally, since American-made double-knee painter pants are designed for a Western fit, we adjusted the silhouette to better suit Japanese body types.

Next, in the distressing and repair process, we apply rubs and damage with shaving and blasting, primarily to the double-knee area, and then carefully hand-repair and remodel each damaged section. Alternatively, we intentionally run decorative stitching in areas that are not damaged, shaping the character of this item. All of this remodeling and decorative stitching is ad-libbed, repeatedly consulting with artisans and making adjustments while observing the condition of each individual piece to design a "meticulous naturalness."

 

The item is then returned to the dyeing factory for the soiling process. To achieve the look of an item that has been worn for many years, the final step involves applying "everyday dirt" processing.

By undergoing numerous manual steps and processes before the finished pants are complete, various techniques are imprinted with depth, resulting in a tasteful pair of pants.
